If you chose to work with us, you get good comms and a reactive response, unlike what we hear about a lot other designers and agencies out there.
What you also get with us is a team who knows what we are doing. We help so many clients who have come to us after trying cheaper alternatives, but have been let down. But, at the end of the day these inferior services usually will let you down over time, especially when you need them most. This is one of our agency’s strengths, as we can walk the talk, and have done for over 25 years to deliver for our clients. Web Designers Glasgow are a team you can reply upon, to help you with all your creative and marketing. We know what we are doing, it’s that simple!
How long will it take to build my new website?
Typical turnaround times on websites are 8-12 weeks, but depending on your functions and specs it can be shorter or longer than this. For more complex systems and online shops it can be longer than this for example. But, you will be advised of timescales for your own website at the quote stage.
Will our website show up high in Google?
All our websites are created to follow Google’s best practices and be aimed at your main core keywords with all on-page base covered in our builds. We will promote your website to Google when it goes live, to have it picked up and ranked. Unfortunately, there is no timescale that Google will do this within. But as highly experienced in this we do know the tried and tested methods to enable it to be listed as quickly as possible.
Being ranked ‘high in Google’ is a completely different question to will my new site be listed in Google. If you want to get into the top positions in Google and have competition, either local or national then you need a well thought out organic SEO strategy marketing plan created for your website.
We are experienced in this and have got many of our clients into top positions in Google within their various industries and sectors to complete both local and national. This is an important fine art and is something very important to most businesses who need a website, and you should consider this when thinking over your budget.
Another way to get to the top of Google fast is by using Google Ads,. Using this route you pay per click to Google, but the benefit is you can be advertising and promoting your services/products at the top of Google within 24-48 hours for example. It just depends on how many campaigns we need to create and manage for your Google Ads to be active.
Will I lose my Google ranking if I redesign or redevelop my website?
The quick answer to this is NO. If you follow the best practices in both content and structure, and re-link all old pages with Google goodness in them over to their new pages (using 301 redirects), then it helps you keep a lot of your previous ranking work. It can move up and down until it resets itself fully that’s just the normal, but overall by doing things right, it will help in the long term to keep your previous positions.
But bearing that in mind and depending on who you chose to create your new website, this answer could easily be changed to YES, you will lose your Google rankings for your old website, if the person doing the new site doesn’t know what they are doing. We have seen clients whose website was flying in Google after we got them great results in the top positions, and they decided to get a new website done elsewhere. Their new website looked ok, as their old one was a few years out of date. BUT, the new company doing the work had no clue about working with sites that had previous good rankings. So the result was they fell off the edge of the world, and didn’t have a clue what, when wrong or how to fix it even months later and lost all their previous gained high rankings in Google. You need to ensure the company you chose to work with knows fully all the pitfalls that can happen when working with an existing good rankled Googled website.
How much work do I have to do for my new website?
All our projects will be managed efficiently to get them completed and delivered on time, and this will include you! Depending on the project itself will control how much time you need to put into it. We are the design and marketing experts, but you are the specialist in your business so we will need some of that experience and insight from you assist with the new build of your website.
In the initial discovery meetings and site structure planning, we will need your views on this and the content of your website. Is it coming from an old site, are you supplying the text content, or do you need us to copy write the content for you. Are images being supplied or are we sourcing imagery to use or organising photoshoots. You need to approve or give feedback at key stages of the web development in a prompt manner to ensure a smooth flow of your timeline.
The kind of things we will need to know and have your help on, will include:
• Have access to your old site and domain name to manage the admin of it for going live with your new website
• Supply all text, images, videos, logos and pdf files you want us to use on the website, if you are providing this content to us.
• Work closely with us to answer important business aims and goals questions related to you and your clients.
• Checking all key stage approvals and giving quick feedback to these.
Can you improve my existing site without building a new one?
Yes, we can help you with this. We would need to access your existing website to then see how it has been built and advise you on what the best solution then is once we see what we are working with. But, if everything is looking ok and we can work with the existing website you have, then this is the most common ways that we can help you:
• Review your current online marketing position and rankings. Check out how you are comparing with your competition, and help you be found and see both local and national if required.
• Rework your site navigation and content to make it easier to use and for your customers to find what they need for it
• Supply training on how to use the admin/CMS system on your website. Showing you how to update and work on the pages of the website.
• Update graphics on the website to give the site a fresh look while improving the overall existing site to make it look better.
• You might not have time to update the website yourself, so we can look after any content text updates you want done.
• Create new landing pages to help with any SEO or PPC boosts you are wanting to do on the website to get more leads and conversions from your website.
If you are in two minds about working with your existing website or making the move over to a new website, then get in touch with us and we will give you a clear and honest review of your site to help you make the right decision.
Do you build mobile-friendly sites?
Today you won’t find many web designers or developers who would create you a new website that is not responsive to work on any device screen size. If this isn’t part of your new quote with someone, then walk away fast!
The web has been this way for many years now and the amount of time people spend on their smart phones you need to ensure your website works for these viewers. We would even now say depending on your own needs and who you see as being your main website users, that in many cases of B2C, then really mobile first designs are even more important as that is what the majority of your viewers will be using to look at your website.
With B2B companies then with a lot of people still using desktops and laptops to view these sites, then, desktop is still the number 1 priority. But, every site should resize to fit the screen of the user still overall and every one of our websites we create includes this key part.
Once I have fully paid, do I own my website?
Yes, once you have paid in full, then the new website is owned by you. All website files, pages and content become your property. This makes it easy for you for a number of cases, you might sell the business, then the website is all part of that to pass on to the new owners, if you want to move hosting to another provider then you have the freedom to do so, once full payment is made.
Who will be working on my website?
Our local team here in Glasgow will be working on your website design and build for you and managing it all along the way with your own project manager. Your PM will ensure the smooth running of photography, video creation, copywriting, design and web development of your website until the very final pre-live checks that all our websites get to ensure they meet only the finest top quality.
Will I be able to edit my new website myself?
Yes, all our websites are built on a CMS platform to allow you easy access and admin of the website to ensure you can update it whenever you want to. Training will be provided on your new website and we cover how you can manage the website yourself.
If on the other hand, you are too busy running the business and need our services to make updates to your website this is a service we are happy to offer to anyone requiring it. Plus, we as designers will always make updates with images and text look its best on your page for you. It is always good to know you have both options available to you.
Is there any warranties with the websites you create?
Before your website goes live it has to pass our various quality assurance checks to make sure all functions and site are working as they should across multiple most popular browser and device tests.
For any bugs or fixes on your new website or system we have build comes with a 3 month cover to ensure everything is working as it should. After this time, any further work would be met with an ad hoc fee, or you can look at protecting your website with one of our maintenance plans, which ensures the website is always up to date and secure.
Will my current site have downtime as you update it?
No. There will be no downtime at all to your existing site while we work on your new site. We will build your new site online and when it is ready to make live then it’s a couple of minutes to make the change over happen from old to new.
Your new site will be fully ready and approved for live status before we switch it over with your old site. So people will either see one or the other, over a short space of time until all the network servers pick up the new site. But during this period, mostly pick it up quick and you should have 100% no downtime, if we have had access to all hosting/domain settings as outline above.
Sometimes the net can do foolish things, like someone has renewed their domain name and it has reset all the A records and a site goes down. But if we are in control of this for you, then it is a quick fix to repoint the A record again, and at this time the site could be down 12-24 hours. But it’s not supposed to happen, but sometimes some things are out with our control. Another example of when a site and email can go down is if we are not managing it for you and you or someone else is in control of renewing your domain name for you and they let it slip and not renew then that will cause your website and email all to go down and offline. That’s why we always advise our clients to let us manage this for them and they will never encounter these problems.
If this ever happens to you then rest assured if you have us working for you, then you have the best experienced team to quickly find the problem and get it sorted for you through many, many years of working with Google, Domains and Web hosting.
Have you ever designed a website for a similar business to mine?
We have worked for many years creating amazing websites and online shops for all ranges of size of companies and industries. There won’t be much we haven’t worked on previous to be honest. Where our clients are different is in what their goals and pains are. People and businesses will always be at different levels or stages at various times of their growth. We aim to understand your business and know what you want fully to then provide a clear and focussed message within your new website, as even if we have worked on a previous business to yours before, everyone is unique and the brand image we create for you will be just as unique and bespoke to your own needs.
Yes, we are based in Glasgow, but we have clients UK wide with many clients based down in the south of England. We pick up clients though people seeing the results of the work we do and then they get in touch as they want that for themselves.
If you build our website, will you build a website for a competitor?
One of our top missions has been always to keep honest and clear comms going with our clients, and we know from experience of other designers on this question, it is treated like a hot potato, that they don’t want to touch and try not to comment on. For us the answer is yes, of course we would normally look at this. Not one single client pays enough of a fee for their normal website, that would stop us working for any other person. So, get in touch before they call us to work on their site, and get your new amazing new website up first! If this really bothers you or you honestly think there could be a conflict of interests, then we are happy to sit down and discuss a sole working relationship with you. For sole exclusivity, where we only work for you within your industry/sector we can have a chat, but to be pre warned, it won’t be cheap. We have many good long-term business relationships running with our clients throughout the UK in all business sectors, which we are proud to serve and we will always aim to make ‘our client happy’ if we can.
Will I get website statistics on my new website?
Yes in all our website builds we include Google Analytics, and can set you up as a user of that account so you can access and view it at any time you want. In addition to this if you are employing one of our SEO or PPC marketing plans for your website, then you will get monthly updates on full progress and rankings of your keywords to know how things are improving month on month.
